A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 by W. Phillip Keller
This book was given to me by a dear friend when anything, that could go wrong, did. I was frustrated, angry, depressed and every other negative emotion you feel. This book brought so much encouragement.
There have been only a handful of messages I have heard on Psalm 23, but what is so refreshing about this book, is that it is written by a modern day shepherd turned pastor. Mr. Keller brings his personal experience of being a shepherd in East Africa and British Columbia and applies it to the 23rd Psalm. Such topics like what it means to “lay down in green pastures” or “prepared a table before me in the presence of my enemy”. It brings life and insight to this Old Testament passage. You will be amazed at the parallel between an earthly shepherd and The Good Shepherd.
I have even started the tradition myself to give this book out to others who are struggling with doubts, and trials, especially when every area of their life seems to be falling apart at once. It will be one you will return to again and again.
